The
day starts at the Paris Arsenal Marina. After the Bastille
lock, there is a magnificent view of Notre Dame cathedral,
followed by the districts of Eastern Paris, Bercy and the
Grande Bibliothèque de France. At the confluence with
the River Marne, Chinagora, the new Chinese centre, marks
the boundary of the urban landscape. The boat continues gently
upriver... past the Saint-Maurice lock, the place of Delacroix's
childhood, l'île du Moulin Brûlé, l'île
aux Corbeaux.
After the Fanac island, you come into the "land of guinguettes"
and rowing clubs, such as Gegene, le p'tit Robinson at Joinville-le-Pont,
the old Convert ball room and the Verger at Nogent. Past les
îles des Loups et d'Amour, the boat docks at Joinville-le-Pont
for lunch : as you please pick-nick or restaurant, like the
p'tit Robinson guinguette. In the afternoon, your return journey
to Paris is accompanied by the sounds of the accordion and
views of magnificent residences and protected countryside.
The cruise includes a commentary, stories and dancing...
