This
cruise begins in the new marina of Paris Arsenal (Opera Bastille,
July column). Slowly the boat flows between the two lines
of yachts and river barges back to their home port after a
summer break. Passed the Bastille lock, you will make your
entrance on the river Seine in front of the river brigade
created for the 1900 Universal Exhibition.
You will go down the river Seine to join the heart of Paris,
the Saint Louis Island and its splendid private mansions,
some of them built by Le Vau when he was only 30 !, and then
admire the majestic monuments: Notre Dame, the Louvre Museum,
the France Institute, the Orsay Museum, the Eiffel Tower,
the Chaillot Palace. You will also discover the bridges restauration
and their history until the Statue of Liberty and sail back
to the Arsenal Marina. You will see the new developments of
12th and 13th Paris districts like : the plane-wing shaped
Charles de Gaulle bridge (it is the last of the Parisian bridges),
the finance Ministry, the National Library François
Mitterrand, the Bercy Parc and the wine city history.
