From the Bastille Opera to Bercy and Boulogne, an urban cruise ... between tradition and modernity

Description of the cruise

This cruise begins in the new marina of Paris Arsenal (Opera Bastille, July column). Slowly the boat flows between the two lines of yachts and river barges back to their home port after a summer break. Passed the Bastille lock, you will make your entrance on the river Seine in front of the river brigade created for the 1900 Universal Exhibition.

You will go down the river Seine to join the heart of Paris, the Saint Louis Island and its splendid private mansions, some of them built by Le Vau when he was only 30 !, and then admire the majestic monuments: Notre Dame, the Louvre Museum, the France Institute, the Orsay Museum, the Eiffel Tower, the Chaillot Palace. You will also discover the bridges restauration and their history until the Statue of Liberty and sail back to the Arsenal Marina.

You will see the new developments of 12th and 13th Paris districts like : the plane-wing shaped Charles de Gaulle bridge (it is the last of the Parisian bridges), the finance Ministry, the National Library François Mitterrand, the Bercy Parc and the wine city history.

Then, you will get down again towards the heart of the city along the island Saint-Louis and the magnificent mansions, among which some built by Vau, while he was not 30 years old! On the meeting of majestic monuments: Notre-Dame, the Louvre, the Institute of France, the Musée d'Orsay, the Eiffel Tower, Palais de Chaillot.

You will discover the work of restoration of bridges and their history, statue of Liberty and the western metamorphosis with the buildings of Canal+, France 2 and France 3, the park André Citroën and the European hospital Georges Pompidou to Boulogne, head office of TF1. Before beginning the return, you will be surprised by the high monumental sculpture of 24 meters, Tour of figures, created by Dubuffet on the island holy Germain in Issy les Moulineaux.
