Description of the cruise

Halloween is coming à aboard!

From October 17 to November 1, our boats will be decked out in Halloween decorations.

Enjoy special decorations on board, a free coloring mask for kids, and to extend the experience our optional Halloween Box.

A unique outing to enjoy with your family during the All Saints’ Day break.

The Canal Saint-Martin, a true Parisian jewel, links the Port de l'Arsenal to the Bassin de la Villette, offering a bucolic setting in the heart of the capital. Built in the early 19th century at the instigation of Napoleon I, the canal was originally intended to supply Paris with drinking water. Today, it embodies a unique urban promenade, combining heritage, serenity and authenticity.

During our cruises, you'll cruise along tranquil stretches of water punctuated by locks, swing bridges and the century-old Crimée lift bridge. Lined with plane and chestnut trees, the canal is spanned by romantic footbridges, offering picturesque views worthy of the finest films shot in this emblematic location.

Every moment is an immersion in history: from the mysterious Bastille vault, which seems to transport you to another time, to the Bassin de la Villette, with its famous Ledoux Rotonde. Our tours reveal fascinating pages of Parisian history, where the past, present and future of several districts merge harmoniously. You'll hear tasty anecdotes about emblematic figures such as the Knights Templar, the Mona Lisa and even Napoleon Bonaparte... and discover the tragic and heroic fates of the 504 victims of the Trois Glorieuses, whose ashes lie beneath the July Column.

Between the fascinating stories told by our guides and the Parisian music that punctuates your cruise, you'll feel the “atmosphere, atmosphere” dear to Arletty, immortalized by Marcel Carné and other filmmakers who have made the Canal Saint-Martin a major filming location.

We offer you much more than a simple trip on the water: it's a journey through an unusual and mysterious Paris, ideal for escaping and rediscovering the capital in a different way.

Customer reviews

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐« Great Canel tour, very interesting with all the locks we went through, is a lovely cruise along the St Martin Canel, but it's long walk back though, as it's only one-way ⛴ which we did not realise, they kind of dump you off in the middle of nowhere, which we weren't expecting ... so you might have to find a subway station to get back into Paris centre. Still worth doing it, if you have the extra time to do it » - Canauxrama client

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐« Big thanks to Pascal and Myriam for this lovely autumn outing. » - Canauxrama client

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐« Great family outing on the canals! The trip along the canals from Bastille to La Villette is really fantastic! Going under the Bastille arch and through the tunnels - everything was perfect (just be sure to bundle up when it's cold to enjoy the upper deck). Our guide-crew member was great too: friendly, efficient, and gave really good explanations. » - Canauxrama client

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐« We had the pleasure of taking a wonderful cruise on a Canauxrama boat today, and it was an unforgettable experience all the way through, narrated by Clara, an excellent guide who swept us along with her passion for explaining the history of the Canal Saint-Martin and sharing lots of fun anecdotes... We'd definitely recommend this cruise with family or friends. As Parisians living right by the Arsenal, we'll certainly be back in other seasons to see these beautiful landscapes change throughout the year... » - Canauxrama client

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐« Impressive and informative — the passage through 8 different locks, the lifting bridge, and the swing bridge. Watch out for splashes! » - Canauxrama client

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐« I took a tourist boat from Port de l'Arsenal, near Place de la Bastille, all the way to Bassin de la Villette. ⛴ A cruise to discover the real face of Paris This boat doesn't stop at any of the city's famous tourist sites, and since there are so few of them along the way, you'll come across very few tourists. That made the trip feel even more special. The boat slowly cruised along the canals of Paris. Instead of famous landmarks, I passed by ordinary apartments and people relaxing in cafés, discovering the real face of Paris that you won't find in guidebooks. Watching Parisians unwind by the water was truly picturesque. This cruise is especially recommended for those who prefer Paris's everyday atmosphere over flashy tourist attractions. » - Canauxrama client

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐« Lovely trip aboard the "Arletty," from Bastille to La Villette. Léa's commentary was really informative — we learned so much about the canal, the locks, Paris, its history and culture! I'd definitely recommend this outing, which I did with my 6-year-old son, who was thrilled to get a front-row view of the locks opening. A big thank you to Marc, the captain, and Léa, the guide (who switched effortlessly between French and English commentary while also whipping up hot drinks, even with a kettle that wasn't working!), for such a warm welcome on board! PS to Canauxrama: if Santa could bring the "Arletty" a working kettle, that'd make passengers and crew alike very happy. » - H2391JNjuliem

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐« A fascinating trip, despite some technical issues with the swing bridge at the start of the journey, handled with real charm and confidence by our lovely guide/singer and the calm captain. Thank you so much for such a wonderful day! » - Andreas de Cologne

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐« THIS is what you think of when you think of Paris! Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Easing down the canal, artists, people, families picnicing, laughing, glowing under the trees, sparkling sunlight. Yes, you have a lot of things to cover in Paris, but if you can squeeze this in, do. You will not regret it. We have been to Paris several times, and we were just looking for something to do. This "something to do" was the best thing we have done! We (all 4 of us) loved it. » - tom_l

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐« Very relaxed, boat was only half full. Very helpful staff and commentary in both French and English. » - gwhammond58

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐« I did the guided tour under Place de la Bastille today. It was really excellent. Our guide shared so much interesting information - unfortunately I forgot his name, but he was fantastic! I highly recommend this tour. It lasts 2.5 hours and is definitely worth it. » - Canauxrama client

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐« It wasn't easy to make it in time, but at the very last minute the whole group managed to get on board. We had a great time, with sunshine and a really pleasant crew. Everyone appreciated the commentary. A big THANK YOU to you all. » - Canauxrama client

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐« "Excellent trip, and very informative about the underground tunnel and its history." "A wonderful moment outside of the present, back in the past, on the Canal Saint-Martin. We learned so much... thank you, Clara. The vault, the swing bridges, the locks... it was all fantastic! Thanks also to Captain Bruno. Highly recommend." » - Canauxrama client

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐« Wonderful time spent on the Canal Saint-Martin, with commentary that was both historically interesting and full of humor! All delivered in perfect French-English bilingual style! Big thanks for this amazing experience! » - Canauxrama client

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐« Great commentary and explanation along the canal route. The tour is well worth it. Drinks available on board » - Dean_B

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐« Fascinating and surprising! A must see hidden Paris treasure Who knew Paris had these waterways through the centre of Paris! » - Terry_M

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐« Do not miss this little known adventure in Paris. It is worth the ride and you spend two hours on the Seine... » - Patsy_E

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐« It was a lovely, relaxing trip through the canals. The hosts were excellent. Drinks were available for purchase. I recommend it to anyone who needs a break from walking around. » - Ann_B

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐« We did the excursion on the Canal Saint-Martin. It's fine to do once, but nothing more. The tunnel passage gets boring fast, within five minutes at most, and after the second lock, it stops being interesting at all. The boat has clearly seen better days, the indoor seating takes some getting used to, a vending machine would be enough for onboard catering, and the commentary isn't really captivating. As I said, it's doable, but don't expect too much. » - Canauxrama client

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐« Information severely lacking, no one at the counter at the Arsenal, phone number unusable from a foreign phone. Be very careful about the details written in tiny print on the tickets. Terrible. » - Canauxrama client

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐« We went on the 2 1/2 hour cruise which was two hours too long. There was nothing memorable besides the waiting lock after lock. The company also picked up schools of kids and dropped them off and picked up more too extend the time. » - Canauxrama client
